Q and A

Question

I’m negative, my husband is positive, can we have a baby?

My husband is positive. He’s on treatment and his viral load is undetectable. I’m negative. Can we have children without me being infected?

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

Due to your husband being negative and undetectable there’s no risk of you contracting HIV when having sex without a condom. Please see here: https://i-base.info/u-equals-u/

This means that you can try for a child the conventional way.

    Hi Danlami,

You don’t have HIV, so the issues that you’re having are due to something else.
