Statins: new summary factsheet

Recent updates to HIV treatment guidelines mean that more people living with HIV are likely to be offered moderate intensity statin therapy.

The drug-drug interaction potential between antiretrovirals and statins varies depending on the elimination pathway of statins and the inhibition/induction potential of antiretrovirals.

A new prescribing resource gives details of the interactions between key ARVs and atorvastatin, pravastatin or rosuvastatin.

This simple 2-page PDF also includes recommendations for the management of the interactions.
