BHIVA pregnancy guidelines online for comment: deadline 25 January

The BHIVA guidelines on the management of HIV in pregnancy and the postpartum period 2024 are now online for public consultation.

The writing group has revised the guidelines, including adding new sections and rewriting and updating existing sections.

New sections have been added on:

• HIV screening in pregnancy and preventing HIV acquisition.
• Pre-conception advice, and
• Infant feeding.

BHIVA continues to acknowledge the limited ART pregnancy safety data and paediatric ART availability worldwide.

We continue to ensure that people who are or who may become pregnant can access the best available ART, while highlighting where pregnancy safety and efficacy data are and are not available.

The guidelines have been designed to be as accessible, informative and practical as possible.

The deadline to leave feedback has been extended to Friday 24 January 2025 at 17:00.
