Question

Can I take multivitamins and minerals with ARVs?

Answer

Hi

Multivitamins are minerals are only really needed if you have a deficiency or if you don;t have a balanced and nutritious diet.

So long as you use recommend dose they will not do any harm.

The only ARVs that interact with multivitamins are integrate inhibitors. It this case you just need to separate dosing of the multivitamins and ARVs by at least four hours

Hello Patricia and thanks for getting in touch.

I am very sorry to hear you have ringworms and have not taken effective treatment for it.

Please speak to your doctor who can assess and prescribe appropriate treatment that will not interact with your ARVs.

Unfortunately, we are not doctors so we cannot provide advice on this specific problem.

Hi I have been on ARV,s since 2022. I am on TLD and doing well.
Sometimes I get a rush that looks like a ring worm my friend suggested I take procidine.
When I googled it said not to mix your ARVs with procidine as it can affect your viral load.
Any suggestions please how to get rid of these ring worms? I’m using the silver lab healing cream these ring worms even left marks on my hands I’m sooo shy sometimes when I’m at work and my boss looks at my hands

Hello Molly and thanks for getting in touch.

If your partner is living with HIV and has undetectable viral load (under 200 copies) then they cannot pass on HIV and you are protected.

However, it is your responsibility to protect yourself, not your partners’.

The only ways to do that is by using condoms or take PrEP.

Hi Flora, please speak to your doctor about this who can check the specific meds you are taking. Some antibiotics are suphur-based so this is worth asking about too. What has the doctor said about the eczema? Maybe a specialist could see this?

Hi Dineo, I am sorry but any changes in your skin colour sound very strange and your doctor needs to manage this. Any blisters that break the skin might be an allergic reaction to the antibiotics (Purbac). In this case the doctor should normally stop this and use alternative meds.

I’m on months taking ARC (acretega) (night) , and Prubac and DS24 (morning). My face is pitch black especially when exposed to the sun. Dr gave “mixed ointment” not assisting. Face blisters. I’m using Dove (white one) soap.
