Q and A

Question

I was late with my dose, is this a problem?

I normally take my meds by 9pm and haven’t missed any for almost a year now but unfortunately I came home late today woke up around 5am to remember the meds. What would happen?

Answer

Hi,

That’s great you have been so good at taking your meds.

One late dose shouldn’t be a problem.

If ever you forgot a dose again, just take it as soon as you remember. Then take your regular dose at the same time when it is due.

If you only remember very close to when your next dose is due, DO NOT take a double dose.

Hi Kabelo, every country is likely to have an HIV organisation that you can connect to. Which country are you in? If there are no local support groups you could think about starting one. I don’t understand what you mean by abstain – is this alcohol or sex? There is no reason to do either of these just because of HIV. Alcohol is okay in moderation if you like this and sex is also safe if you are on treatment or use condoms.
