Question
What is Tribuss used for?
25 April 2017. Related: All topics.
My partner and I tested negative, however when she had a miscarriage she was given a med called Tribuss. I thought this was a HIV med.
Answer
Thanks for getting in touch.
Yes Tribuss is used to treat HIV. Therefore, I am not sure why your negative partner would be given Tribuss following a miscarriage. Owning to this, she should speak to the doctor who prescribed this to her.
Hi Mercy,
If you have HIV you need to take ARVs. As to what you’ll be given this will depend. You may be given Tribuss (which is a generic version of Atripla http://i-base.info/guides/1561) or something else. This is a discussion that you’ll need to have with your doctor.
I am hiv+ and I don’t want my family to find out , my sister is using tribus and I don’t want to use same medication as hers , i told her that I told her that I tested negative but I have skin problem , is there other tablets I can use than tribuss
Hi Precious,
Tribuss and Atrozia are both generic versions of Atripla, please see here: http://i-base.info/guides/1561 What this means is that they contain the same compounds. It’s very common to be given different generic versions. When switching between the various generic forms it isn’t common to have side effects. However, if your mother is feeling unwell she should see a doctor.
My mom is in treatment of HIV she is drinking Atroiza but since lockdown she wasn’t able to fetch her treatment. Her boss offered to fetch treatment for her from the pharmacy but this one is tribuss. Since using this tribuss instead of Atroiza she has since complained about pain. So what should we do
Hi Valiant,
The pills that you’ve mentioned are both generic versions of Atripla, please see here: http://i-base.info/guides/1561 However, why is your partner telling you that you need to take these? The pills that you’ve mentioned are used to treat HIV. If you aren’t positive you don’t need to take them.
I haven’t gotten tested but my ex n my present partner insisted I should take the pills some written odimune& some tribuss
What’s the difference between these pills
Hi Qee,
Tribuss and Trivenz are generic versions of Atripla. They have different names because they are made by different companies. But they are the same drug. Please see this link for more info http://i-base.info/guides/1561
Hi
I using Tribuss and my Partner is using Trivenz why out Treatment is different? it is Not the same drug or its depending in your viral Load .
Hi Nompumelelo,
If your partner is HIV positive and using Tribuss, this sounds like it could be good news.
Meds like Tribuss reduce the amount of HIV in the blood to such tiny levels that it can’t be detected. If you are undetectable on meds such as Tribuss you can not pass on HIV, even if you don’t use condoms.
Please see more here at Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U). U=U could be why you’re testing HIV negative.
My partner has been using Tribuss pills and he’s keeping it a secret from me….and we have been having unprotected sex and when I go for HIV test …I’m negative….am I safe?
What should I do…please help
