Q and A

Question

Are there travel restrictions for Vietnam?

I am travelling to Vietnam from South Africa next week and I’m Atripla.
Do I need a doctors letter? Are there restrictions. I’m only going for 10 days.

Also I noticed that there is a time difference, should I continue taking my meds at my normal time (10 PM) or must I adjust to their time?

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

There aren’t any travel restrictions for people who are positive who wish to visit Vietnam. And neither should you need to have a doctors letter. However, if its possible to get one, then you could do this.  For further info, please see here:

Because you’re taking Atripla, it’s fine to take your meds at local time. Therefore, if you take them at 10pm in your home country, you can take them at 10pm local time in Vietnam.

Hi, how are you? There is contradictory information regarding travel/residence to Vietnam. This is shown here: https://www.hivtravel.org/Default.aspx?PageId=143&CountryCode=VN

As i-base is not a travel charity we do not have any further information than this. More can be found by contacting your local Vietnamese embassy.
