I stopped taking my meds in August 2017. I’m now 4 months pregnant, what should I do?
Answer
Thanks for getting in touch.
Due to you being pregnant its important that you restart ARVs. This is because the ARVs will help control your HIV. They will also reduce the risk of transmission to your baby.
If its possible try and see you doctor. Tell them that you’ve been off meds for a while and that you want to restart. They should check your CD4 count and viral load and depending on where you live they’ll also do some resistance tests.
Its not too late to restart meds. For more info about HIV and pregnancy, please see here:Â https://i-base.info/guides/pregnancy
