I am being offered a job in UK but I am HIV positive from last 7+ years undergoing ART treatment since I was diagnosed positive, is it ok or not?
Answer
Thanks for getting in touch.
Yes its OK for you to live in the UK, you being positive won’t be an issue.
You will also be able to get free HIV treatment and monitoring.
Please bring a summary of your medical history with you so the new doctor has these notes.
Please also get in touch with i-Base again if you need information about how to register at a clinic. It is good to bring at least a month of meds with you though – more if possible. This is so there is not a pressure on getting the new clinic with often takes a few weeks.

Hello Koko and thanks for getting in touch.
I am happy to hear you are doing better and have managed to control your HIV.
I am very sorry to hear you cannot return to the UK though.
Are you sure this is the case?
Permanent residents are able to move freely.
Please check with the embassy where you are based and explain the situation
I wish you every success in getting back to the country.
Hi I’m koko, I have permanent residence in the UK. The problem is I came for a holiday in Africa, then I was diagnosed with HIV. Which made me suicidal. Wondered and ending up staying five years here. Now the rules says you can only stay out of the UK for two years. Now I want to go back to the UK, I have my kids there. Please help I don’t know where to turn. I have no money I’m stuck
HYi Thando, the UK doesn’t ask about HIV and so this won’t be a reason for getting or not getting a visa. Good luck with your plans.
hi im thando and im 20 years old from Africa wanted to ask if im allowed a work visa application in the uk if im hiv positive
