Hi, I live in South Africa. Due to the lock down I can’t get to my clinic. Is it possible to buy ARVs from a pharmacy?
Answer
Thanks for getting in touch.
It’s possible to buy ARVs from a pharmacy in South Africa, you will however need a prescription from your doctor. So this may not be helpful, especially due to the current situation.
The response to Covid 19 is changing on an hourly basis, and that includes here in the UK. As we’re based in the UK your best option would be to contact the following org: https://tac.org.za/ They are based in South Africa and may be able to help.
Hi Olivia, I am sorry that i-Base can’t provide medicines – only information. It is important that your work gives you times to get your meds and to look after your helath. Please contact your clinic and explain your situation in case they can help in other ways, For example, by giving longer prescriptions.
I’m running out of my medication and I’m working as a nanny, I’m struggling to go to the clinic please how can you help me even if I can buy
Hi Nomsa, missing one day of treatment is not going to be a problem. Missing an occasional single dose is not a long enough time to cause any problems with your treatment. You do not need to be worried about missing this day.
Mention it during your appointment on Friday but it is unlikely that any further action will need to be taken about this. Your treatment will still work.
Hi , please assist am realising that my med will be with a one day out, my med will only last me until Wednesday, I will not have a dose for Thursday and am scheduled for the appointment on Friday, please kindly advise

Hi Ajay,
Weight loss can be due to a number of reasons, one of which is stress. If you’re losing weight the best thing to do is to discuss this issue with your doctor. It won’t be the meds.
