Q and A

Question

What if I am 10 minutes late with my meds?

Answer

Hi there

Modern HIV treatment has a window where the timing doesn’t need to be so exact.

This is at least a couple fo hours either side of the exact time.

For example, if you usually take your meds at 10 o’clock, then anytime between 8 and 12 o’clock will usually be fine.

It is still better to aim for 10 o’clock – but this is because the routine will help you to remember each day.

In your case, the 10 minutes will not have had any effect on your treatment.

Hi Syrus, no this will not be a problem. It is okay to be 8 minutes late with your treatment.

As long as you are taking your treatment within an hour of your normal time it is still going to work. 8 minutes is not going to risk resistance.

Hi Ebony, no this will not effect your treatment. As long as you are taking your treatment everyday within an hour of when you normally do, there will be no change to how effective your treatment is.
