Q and A

Question

Is Atrozia an ARV?

Can a person be given Atroiza when they test positive?

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

Atrozia is a generic version of an ARV called Atripla, please see here: https://i-base.info/guides/1561 In countries in Sub Saharan Africa, it’s common that someone will be given this combination, and yes this includes when they are first diagnosed.

    Hi Thandeka,

It’s good that you’re taking HIV treatment. But unfortunately, if your viral load is going up it looks like these meds are not working well.

What does your doctor say about it? Please ask if you need to switch to other meds that will help get your viral load to undetectable. Undetectable means a viral load result of less than 50 copies/mL.

Please let us know what your viral load results are.
