Q and A

Question

Can you mix feed babies?

My baby pcr results were negative after birth and I breastfed my baby for the first month. I then started mix feeding, her what are the chances that my baby can test positive?

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

Babies born to positive mothers should be given either breastmilk or formula, not both. This is because there’s a small increased risk of transmission (even if a woman’s viral load is undetectable).

How long have you been mix feeding?

It’s not possible to predict what your babies next test will be, therefore the best thing to do is to talk to your baby’s doctor.
