Hi, I recently had flu and was on a 10 day course of intramuscular antibiotics for an inflamed prostate. Can these lead to a fall in my CD4 levels?
Answer
Hi, how are you doing?
CD4 count is a measure of immune function and can change to different triggers. The flu or an inflamed prostate does have the potential to decrease your CD4 count, but it is likely to be any change of significance. Any change is likely to fall in the range of regular changes or correct within a short time frame.
CD4 count is not a stable level and can even change during the day or after exercise. Please see here for more information about CD4 levels: https://i-base.info/ttfa/section-1/9-interpreting-cd4-results-cd4-count-and-cd4-percentage/
