Q and A

Question

I have darker skin since becoming HIV positive.

What products are best for my skin? I’m HIV positive and my skin has become dark.

Answer

Hi, how are you?

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing this. Have you mentioned this to your doctor?

Depending on the combination of your HIV medications, you may require a Vitamin D supplement. Before commencing this it would be advised to talk with your doctor or pharmacist. This is a previous question that explains more.

There is no cosmetic skin ‘product’ that is known to lighten skin.

Hi David, as you mentioned laboratory test it is likely that a 4th generation antigen/antibody test was used. Results from these tests are conclusive from 6 weeks onwards. As you tested at 7 weeks your result is accurate and you need no further testing.
