Q and A

Question

I have missed 2 pills.

I went over my daughter’s house and left my HIV pills at home by mistake. I drank four beers and missed my pills.

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

Missing 2 pills is not going to cause a problem if this is not a regular occurrence.

This is because HIV medication has a long half life – the drug remains active in the body for longer than 24 hours. This means that missing an occasional dose is not going to risk your health.

Josh.

Hi Julie, yes your results would be accurate. If you had HIV, even from 30 years ago, tests would still be positive. You do not have HIV.

Can an HIV test taken now pick up an infection if God forbid unknowingly exposed 30 years ago? I feel very sick now with a lot of symptoms and didn’t have symptoms years ago nor thought about it?
I’ve taken all the STD and HIV tests recently and multiple times and all were negative except for oral herpes which was positive. Would results be accurate?
