Q and A

Question

Does dolutegravir risk a neural tube defect in my baby?

I am using Acriptega which contains dolutegravir and I want to try a baby. Will the medication affect the unborn baby e.g neural tube etc?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

No. Taking Acriptega will not risk your child having a neural tube defect – any risk of this is negated by taking folic acid during pregnancy.

The risk to baby being harmed is greater if you do not use medication – not taking medication increases the risk of HIV transmission.

It is safe to continue with Acriptega throughout your pregnancy and is the best way to keep you and baby healthy.

Josh.
