Can I work in the UK as a nurse?

Hi, by profession I am a registered nurse specialising in Midwifery. I have an interest of working in the UK, however I am HIV positive. My question is will I be allowed to work as a nurse in the UK regardless of my HIV status?
Answer
Hi, how are you?
Yes. You can work in the UK as a nurse. There are no restrictions for those living with HIV for employment in the UK – this is a protected characteristic by the Equality Act, 2010 and discriminating is illegal.
As you specialise in midwifery which is a ‘blood-facing’ role, you may be required to take additional testing to demonstrate that you are undetectable – this is to also prove your adherence with medication.
HIV is nor a barrier to nursing in the UK.
Josh.
