Q and A

Question

Do I need to reject my uni offer?

I recently got an offer letter from a university to study in India, but on the letter they state that they require a medical examination to be done upon arrival. But I checked on the HIV travel website that they do not have any restrictions. I’m not sure what do to should I turn down the offer?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

Congratulations on your university offer.

In India, no questions/testing for HIV is required to be granted residency/visa. For this reason being HIV will not deny entry.

For your university, have they provided you with information about what the medical exam entails? E.g., is an HIV test required? and do you know if they have their own policy about HIV positive students?

Can you contact the university anonymously to enquire about these questions? If they allow/do not require testing you will not have to reject your offer.

Josh.
