How do I treat Kaposi’s sarcoma?

How do I treat Kaposi’s sarcoma?

Answer

Hi, how are you?

Are you HIV positive? Kaposi’s sarcoma is treated differently if someone is HIV positive or not. If you are do you know your CD4 count and viral load?

In most cases being on ART is enough to treat Kaposi’s sarcoma. This is true in most cases when people have a CD4 count more than 150 and lesions are limited to the skin and lymph nodes. Different types of HIV ART are all equally suitable to be used as treatment.

Further treatments may be required depending on how advanced Kaposi’s sarcoma is. This will be discussed with an HIV cancer specialist and can provide more appropriate information.

Josh.
