Q and A

Question

I’m on treatment. Will my body be able to handle a cold?

Diagnosed 2019, recent infection undetectable. This is the first time of getting a cold. Don’t have other health related issues. Will my immune system deal with it effectively or am I likely to encounter problems?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

Yes. Your body will be able to handle a cold.

As you have been on treatment with an undetectable viral load since 2019, your immune system will not be effected by HIV.

This means your immune system will be able to function similar to your HIV negative peers. A cold is not going to cause any additional problems than is normally caused by having one.

Josh.
