Q and A

Question

Can I shift from TLE to TLD?

Can I shift from TLE to DTG+FTC+TAF? My doctor is telling DTG+FTC+TAF is a new medication and it has less side effects. My viral load is undetectable?

Answer

Hi, how are you doing?

Yes you can switch from TLE to TLD.

It is really good that your doctor has recommended this.

TLD is a new medication with fewer side effects as your doctor has mentioned. As this combination contains TAF instead of TDF which most TLD combinations use, there is even less risk of side effects, mainly towards your kidney.

As you are already undetectable switching is easy. You can simply continue with TLD instead of TLE. The only side effect you may notice is some problems sleeping. People avoid this by taking TLD in the morning instead of at night.

Unlike TLE, you do not need to take TLD with food or avoid any specific foods. You can take it at any time regardless of when you eat.

Josh.
