Question

My mum took 2 pink Paxlovid pills…

My mom was prescribed Paxlovid for Covid. She is 87 years old and accidentally took two pink pills instead of 1 white and 1 pink. What to do?
Thanks

Answer

Hi, how are both you are your mum doing?

How far into the course of Paxlovid is your mom?

As she took 2 pink pills it means she would have taken a double dose

The pink tablets are nirmatrelvir. These need the white tablets to remain in the body to work. Because your mom didn’t take this along with a white pill, it means that this dose will not have worked as well.

Continue taking the doses as normal to finish the course. As the pink tablet needs the white to work, taking 2 of the pink is not going to cause any problems.

Josh.
