Sleep problems with lamivudine?

It has been one month since I started taking lamivudine and it’s causing me some sleep disorder. I wake up in the middle of the night and I am not able to get back to sleep. Also, I am feeling muscle fatigue. Should I contact my clinic now or should I wait? Will these side effects go away eventually?

Hi there

Please can you check your meds as HIV treatment usually needs to include three different meds.

Lamivudine is only one med and it usually doesn’t cause any side effects.

Sometimes the other two drugs though can affect your sleeping.

Please contact you clinic to check that you are taking your meds at the right time, especially if the sleep problems continue.
