Q and A

Question

Am I undetectable?

Hi.I tested positive in April 2022 and have been on treatment ever since.

My last blood tests six months ago showed that my viral load is less than 50 and I am due for next tests next week.

Based on my previous results, can I assume I am undetectable? I am still on treatment and not sexually active.

Answer

Hi there

Thanks for your quetion and great you are on treatment and doing so well.

Your last viral load test at 50 copies/mL is the same as undetectable.

This means that so long as you have been taking your meds, your viral load should still be undetectable on the next tests.

These are really good results.

Hi Emmanuel, please speak to your doctor about alternative choices. This is different in different countries and you don’t say where you are living.

He didn’t know, thou switching back have reduced the cramp. I having the effect thou I sleep it off and feel better in the morning. I have foamy urine but I feel a bit better. Which other combination can I go for that don’t have tenofovir.

Hi Emmanuel. thanks. Does your doctor know you have switched back? So long as they also said this is okay then TLEfavirenz will be just as good as it was before. It sounds like you are lucky and don’t get side effects so maybe it is just better for you. The reason your doctor need to know is that both these meds contain tenofovir and this is the drug that sometimes cause kidney problems.

    Good morning Simon

I was on TLEfavirenz before I was switched to TLD like 3 years ago due to the fact they said everyone is switching to it.

The abdominal cramp was too much that I feel I am having kidney issues and I just switched back to TLEfavirenz like a week ago. I hope it is safe.

    Thank you.
