Question
Do I have to take my meds at exactly the same time each day?
12 August 2024. Related: Adherence, All topics.
Must I take the treatment exactly the same time everyday and what if I did not take it on time?
What will happen if I take it 2 hours after the usual time?
Answer
Hi there
The main reason to aim for the same time is because getting into a good routine will help you remember each day.
It doesn’t make much difference if sometimes you are an hour or two early or an hour or two late.
However, missing or being late might cause viral load to rebound in some people. It this case it is better to go back to aiming for roughly the same time every day.
Hi Loren, please see the link here are PEP:
https://i-base.info/qa/factsheets/pep-faq
This service doesn’t answer individual Q on PEP that are already answered here.
I’m using Acriptega as PEP and I had another exposure after starting PEP for 19hours in this case do I need to restart the course for 28 days or just continue it for 27 days?
Hi Debbie, so long as you still take your meds every day, the time isn’t so important. It is okay to sometimes take them a bit earlier or latter if you need to do this on some days.
What will happen if I switch my time taking Eltroxin from morning till night time? Should I take 1at night because I won’t be taking one till tomorrow night? So that would be 1 at 8 o’clock this morning and 1 at 10 tonight.
Hi Charity, thanks, some meds are recommended before you sleep and others after you have woken up. This is mainly to avoid side effects. If you are on shift work it is the link to when you sleep that is important, not whether it is morning or evening.
Thank you so much I thought maybe if it’s taken later than the usual time it will course harm.I was alsi suprised to learn that these can be taken in the morning thought they were only supposed to be taken in the evenings
