Can the cold sores cream affect my result?

I had an HIV-1/HIV-2 antibody test and at the time I had a cold sore or cold sores which I was treating with either: VALTREX cream, ZOVIRAX cream, BLISTEZE cream or another cold sore cream. Can any of these creams affect my result? My test was negative.
Answer
No. These creams cannot affect your result. As long as the test has been performed after a possible window period (1-3 months after a risky contact), it is accurate.
