What HIV tests are available in the Republic of Ireland?

Can you find out for me what kind of HIV testing is done in the Republic of Ireland? Each time I ring a doctor they just say the blood test was sent away and to wait a week for results. I can get a rapid test but not sure about these tests. Many thanks

The main test used in Republic of Ireland looks for antibodies, which are your bodies immune response to HIV. The rapid tests also look for antibodies. These tests are accurate 6-12 weeks after an exposure. For more information on antibody tests please follow this link
