Question

What does it means to measure cell counts in µl?

What it means to measure cell count in µl and mL?

Answer

Your CD4 count is an indirect measure of your the strength of your immune system.

It measures how many white blood cells (CD4 cells) are in a small about of blood.

The results include the amount of blood that is measured. For CD4 counts this is a cubic millimetre (also called a microlitre, µl).

Viral load results are measured in millilitres (mL) which (as a cubic cm) is 1000 times larger.
