Question

Will clotrimazole affect my treatment?

I’ve just started taking efavirenz and Truvada. A week into taking my treatment, I noticed that I had thrush, because it is something I have suffered with before on many occations. I visited my local GUM clinic and was given clotrimazole cream and a vaginal pessary. I went home and used them without thinking if they would effect my treatment.
Please help.

Answer

There are no known drug interactions between the ARVs and the antifungal cream clotrimazole. So, no worries. Take care!

Hi Olarewaju, you can take these meds at a different time to your HIV mends if his is better for you. they don’t need to be taken together.
