I am HIV positive and I want to further my studies abroad in Europe or US.
Is it possible?
I am from the Chinese mainland.
Answer
The best thing for you to do is to contact the Embassies of the different countries you are interested in going to. They will be able to provide you with more detailed information. This will include whether you can study there as well as important information about what, as a student, you will be eligible for, in terms of access to health care.
Best wishes

Hi Phumla,
It’s great that your VL is undetectable and your CD4 count is strong. It looks like your HIV meds are working well.
Here in the UK there are no entry restrictions for people who are HIV positive. Please see this link to HIV travel for details of entry and residence for other countries.
Good luck with your job applications.

Hi A.A.
I’m sorry about your recent diagnosis. Unfortunately some countries do have restrictions on entry and residence if you”re HIV positive.
Perhaps you could look to other countries, I think the info is up to date.
However, how’s your HIV treatment going? Have you started ART yet? Please let us know and tell us your CD4 count and viral load results.
