Is the risk the same (for a woman) to be infected with HIV during an unprotected sexual interocurse without ejaculation? Is the pre-semen liquid infectious as the sperm when in contact with the vagina while having sex?
Answer
Women are usually at a higher risk, as the area that participates in the sexual intercourse and is suscpetible to HIV is larger, compared to that of the man (the head of the penis).
Both the pre-ejaculation liquid and sperm contain HIV and can be infectious. The most important factor for infectivity being the viral load that can be measured in those liquids – the higher the viral load, the higher the chances of infection.
