Q and A

Question

Can I am travel to Singapore with HIV medication?

Answer

Hello,

Thank-you for your question. Singapore is one of the few countries which still denies entry to people living with HIV. Details of entry restrictions for Singapore can be found on the HIV travel website.

This is the link for Singapore.

In the past many HIV positive people have traveled to countries which are restricted. How this has been done is mentioned at this previous question.

Note: this answer was updated in July 2016 from an question for posted in August 2012. This update includes a new link.

Google provides pretty good free online translatiuon services into most languages. You could use one of these to tranlate a question into English before posting it. If we get questions in other languages that can be translated in this way, we will do our best to answer them, with a cuation that the translation may not capture the full meaning.

Please see the answer above and the new link to Singapore. It looks liks short terms tourist visits are likely to be okay. It might be good for your meds to look like vitamins.

Can I travel to Singapore for 7 days being HIV positive

  10. Dr Tan

Yes you can as long as you are not already on the database. And all your meds are labelled with your identifying information (this is more to prove that the pills you are carrying are not banned drugs). PLHIV are not allowed to be employed in Singapore or be Permanent Residents or become Citizens. PLHIV and are in Singapore’s Immigration database are not allowed to enter the country unless they are coming in for HIV treatment. In which case they need a special form filled by their doctor and submitted to Immigration Authority for approval. Upon approval they are allowed to stay a maximum of 3 days. To get onto this database you need to be diagnosed with HIV by a doctor in Singapore and he/she will notify the CDC. If you are in Singapore and need your HIV meds shipped in, you will need a prescription from a local doctor to clear the meds through customs. Bringing HIV meds in or having them shipped in will NOT put you on the HIV +ve database.
