Will the itching disappear over time?

I started treatment on the 1st January 2009 – Truvada and Sustiva. One of the side effects I have is itching on my arms and upper back. Hive like spots appear. My consultant at the clinic does not appear overly concerned. However, is there anything that I can take to stop the itching and will it disappear over time.
Answer
The reason for the rash needs to be thoroughly checked, especially if it appears in the first weeks of treatment and worsens.
It is true, however, that in the majority of the cases, the rash disappears with time or it can be treated with medicines like cetirizine, for instance. There is more information about rash here.
In any case, it makes sense that a skin doctor takes a look at it.
