Q and A

Question

I’m worried about infecting my boyfriend

Wow. It has happened.

I never thought I would find someone who would care about me in a loving way being that I am positive.

He says he wants to be with me regardless, but I am very afraid of putting him at risk.

I have undetectable levels, high CD4s, and have been adherent to my meds for 2 years.

Where can I get factual information so I can keep him safe?

Answer

Hello,

I’m very pleased to hear that you have met somebody you want to be in a relationship with.

Being undetectable greatly reduces the chance of passing HIV to your partner. But the most effective way to protect him is to use condoms whenever you have anal or vaginal sex.
