Question

HIV risk from split condom

I paid a woman to have sex with me in May 2007 with a condom and in the middle the condom broke a little from top left. I changed it and wore a new one and completed the sex.

But after that i worried and was very upset.

After 3 weeks i feel too fatigue ( at that time the city temp. was 46-47 Celcius). After 4 weeks i go through Rapid test which was Non Reactive. After six weeks I found the prostitute and tested her which was also Non Reactive.
But I have a headache from 4-5 days and a throat infection.

1. Please tell me whether these are the early symptoms of HIV ??
2. Does the test from the woman after six weeks show me that I am not infected??

Answer

You have no right to ask anyone else to test for HIV. Who do you think you are acting like this?

You need to take responsibility for your own actions in life.

Your risk sounds low but HIV antibody tests usually only work 2-3 months after exposure.

‘Rapid’ tests refer to the time it takes to give you a result – usually 10-20 minutes or so after testing your blood.

They do not work after a very recent exposure. You still need to wait 8-12 weeks before you use them.

You are recommended to take another 3 months after a negative result to confirm this.

    Hi Sarbjit

Given the additional time that has passed, it is probably best to focus on your own status now rather than the potential risk from someone else.

Even if your partner is or was HIV-positive, you are going to have to test yourself to find out about your own health.

It ssems very likely that you do not have HIV, but if you are still worried, then whether or not you have symptoms, going for an HIV test now is the best solution.

It has been 3 months since you were potentially at risk and the results will be accurate for you.

Sir, I requested her to test, I’m sorry if I sounded like I forced her to do it, and I paid her for this.
Please tell me if her test after six weeks is reliable?
I have sore throat and swollen tonsils, as I’m very worried.
