What if I miss a dose or take a double dose by mistake?

Hi, if i forget to take my pill on time, or maybe take it twice a day, without remembering i took it, then maybe overdose by mistake. Can it cause any harm to my health?

Missing an occasional pill is okay
Taking a double dose of HIV medication is usually okay – but it is not a good idea. The main risk is that you might get side effects for a few hours due to the short time when you have higher drug levels.
Additional doses of other types of medication might require speaking to a doctor or pharmacist about the short term side effects.
It is better to get a pill box. Then you can see each day whether or not you have taken your meds. These are cheap and work really well.

Hi Ikemzy, thanks. If your wife was taking PrEP then she will still be HIV negative. This should also have been confirmed but the hospital when your wife was pregnant. It is easy to test again if you she is worried, but the negative test means the baby is not at risk from breastfeeding.
I really want to ask .my wife is negative while am positive and my wife always takes prep for protection and she mistakenly got pregnant how can I secure her and the born baby and still be having sex with her.both the baby she is breast feeding how can they be secure not to contact the virus

I mistakenly took my Rvd drug twice 6am and 9pm the 9pm was a mistake I normally take it by 6am . Should I skip tomorrow 6am

I am sorry to hear you are struggling to remember your medication.
As you probably realise, it’s very immportant to take them daily as resistance can be developed and then you might need to change medication.

You should take a missed dose up to 12 hours later.
You should completely skip the dose if this is longer than this time otherwise you run the risk of double dosing the next day (which is not necessary)

Hello, I accidentally taken 2 TELDY tablet for today. I forgot I have taken earlier at 9am. I have taken another this afternoon at 2pm, I mistook it as another medicine for my toothache. Should I worry or will be okay? I am scared of overdosing.
