Question

Is my gf at risk of HIV? – plus caution to not wash your genitals…

Hie …. So a condom broke while having sex the n I stop and changed the condom with a hooker and then heavy washed my genital after that then in less than 6 hours went home and had unprotected sex with my girlfriend once…so I’m worried what if I caught HiV ..would I also have spread it to my girlfriend in that small time frame …

Answer

Your girlfriend is at risk of other STIs but not HIV.

This is because HIV takes anything from a few days to a few weeks to become infectious.

HIV is quite a difficult virus to transmit. Other STI’s are much easier.

Using a new condom means that your risk of HIV is also very low.

It is not a good idea to wash you genitals though. An early study showed this increases the risk of HIV transmission compared to using a dry cloth to wipe off any fluid.

Hi Breezy, thanks, please try not to stress – HIV is a difficult virus to catch and it is much more likely that everything will be ok :)
