Q and A

Question

Is sweating when living in a tropical country HIV-related?

Hello.

First and foremost I’d like give thanks to all of you that make this website happen.

My problem is the weather here in Thailand (Bangkok) is too hot. Sometimes in the evening my back sweats a lot. It is like I have been running when I put my hand on back. I have been taking Sustiva (efavirenz) and Truvada (tenofovir and FTC) for almost two and half year now but this issue seems to be worse at the moment, What do you think is the cause?

Answer

Thank you for your question.

Sweating in a tropical climate is common.

Your HIV medications should not be affecting your body temperature.

If you are having problems with excessive sweat, and this is unusual or new, speak to your HIV doctor about it.
