Q and A

Question

Can people get free dental care if they have no access to benefits or work?

How can people living with HIV who have no recourse to public funds access health services such as dental care?

Answer

Hi there

Thanks.

You can still get dental care in the UK, even if you are not allowed to work and not allowed access to benefits.

People who have low or no income can ask their doctor for help to complete an H2 document.

“A HC2 certificate entitles individuals to free NHS prescriptions, dental treatment, wigs and fabric support, sight tests, vouchers towards the cost of glasses or contact lenses, and necessary travel costs to and from hospital for NHS treatment under the care of a consultant.”

Your HIV doctor might be able to refer you to the dental department of the hospital   where you also get your HIV care, for some procedures,
