Question
Is a runny nose a symptom of someone with HIV?

I would like to know if positive people are more prone to get colds and flu than negative ones? Is a runny nose a symptom of someone with HIV? Thanks
Answer
Thank you for your question.
A runny nose is not a symptom of HIV. If people with HIV have a low CD4 count, which means their immune system isn’t working as well as it usually does, then they may be prone to flus and colds.
However, this is not a general rule. HIV positive people can equally live normal active lives and get colds at the same rate as someone without HIV.
