Question

Questions on enlarged lymph nodes, recent infection and progression rates…

Do enlarged lymph nodes normally happen when someone is recently infected or can they come up during a chronic infection as well?

My friend was diagnosed after going to the GP for swollen lymph nodes (nearly 3 months ago). Her first blood results were CD4 just over 200 and her viral load was 50,000. Could it be that her CD4 will go up on its own because the infection is recent?

She was HIV negative around Feb 2007 last year. How quick could her CD4 be declining?

Is it possible that when she goes to the HIV clinic next time, 8 weeks after her initial appt, her CD4 will be below 200 and she will be diagnosed with AIDS?

If she does need to go on meds so soon, is that bad news for her life span?
