What does the test result mean?

I was asked to be there with someone when they got their HIV result.The person was not certain on the result. I saw on the paper, HIV reactive and at the bottom it read Negative. What does that mean?
Answer
Well, I have not seen the exact test, but this is usually an HIV-negative result. I would suggest, however, you contact the clinic and enquire. They are obliged to give you an explanation what the test result is.
