Is surgery more risky when you're HIV positive?

I am HIV+ and need to have surgery, Hernia inguial. Vl undetectable for two months and cd4 300 (11.5%). On Truvada and Stocrin. How safe is surgery compared with a HIV- patient?

Generally there is no greater risk through surgery if you are HIV positive, than for HIV negative patients. Studies have shown an increased risk of post-operative complications with a CD4 count under 200, or a very high viral load. Because your CD4 is strong, and you are undetectable, this does not apply in your case.
