Re: Swiss report

Having read the links you supplied, what, in your opinion, is the actual risk of unprotected gay sex?

Being undetectable for over a year now and taking my pills every day, does the link you supplied mean it’s roughly one in every so many times? And if so, what roughly is the ratio?

I am still confused by all the different reports I read. Thanks again for your help.

Answer

The Swiss statement is based only on limited amount of data and those data derive from heterosexual couples practicing vaginal sex. There are some researchers who think that from it, one can extrapolate the risk from anal gay sex as well, but others tend to disagree with this.

Risk is a very individual thing and it is fairly difficult to unify scenarios i.e. a person with high genetic protection vs. somebody with lower, type of intercourse (roughness of sexual contact), viral load of the partner and many others.

All of that makes any study results on risk of transmission really difficult to interpret. That is why, currently, there are not enough data to provide you with a definitive answer what is the risk for infection during unprotected gay anal sex.
