Q and A

Question

Missed meds and complications from C-section…

I am hiv positive and ijust had a baby three months ago and my baby is perfectly healthy. But the problem is i am still bleeding and have lower back pains and i get tired so quick. I feel like my shoes are so heavy and i sometimes have stomach cramps. And i wasn’t feeling this way before i had a c section while i gave birth to my cute little baby three months ago.

I sometimes forget to take my ARVs (Odimune) and my viral load was 56 last time iget tested. My question is can these be a symptoms of some disease or what?

Answer

Hi

Thanks for you question and for letting us post an answer online.

I think the things you describe happen to many women.

A C-section is a serious operation and it take time to recover. During this time is it important to focus on your own health as well as the baby.

I is wonderful that your baby is well, but she will need you to be health too know. Even though babies take up so much time and energy, try to find a way each evening to remember you meds.

Missing one or two doses will be okay, so don’t worry about the 54 result. It does not mean there is another disease or illness. If you are breast feeding you need to remember meds or this will increase the risk to the baby.

lso, please talk to the doctor or nurse about recovery from the C-section. This needs medical advice that I can”t give over the internet.
