Is 6 weeks of ART for my newborn baby OK?

My baby was given Nevirapine and he took it for 6 weeks, the 6 weeks are over and he wasn’t given anything at the clinic. Is that OK?

Congratulations on your baby.
All babies are given a course of ARVs after birth, but only for a short time (4-6 weeks). This is to help further reduce the risk of transmission, especially if breastfeeding. Testing for HIV is also different in babies, our guide explains more.
