Can I work as a police officer even if I have HIV in South Africa?

Job wise, can I work as a police officer or prison warden?

Hi Tebogo, Tac is a charity based in SA that might have more helpful information: https://www.tac.org.za/

As i-base is based in the UK, I am unaware of SAPS policy and HIV. As mentioned in the answer to the main question, after contacting SAPS there is no restriction for HIV positive people applying to work.

    Hi Elvis,

i-base are a treatment organisation based in the UK. We can’t comment on recruitment process of the police in South Africa. If you can, it may be worth calling them and asking informally what their process is.
