Q and A

Question

Why is my viral load rising?

My husband has been on truvada and raltegravir since diagnosis in late Feb 2019 his vl was 3 million plus and in April came down to 74000. He had s test last week and his vl as of results today was 171000.

He taken taken his meds like clock work and never missed a dose. Why has his vl gone up? We’re in the UK.

Answer

Thanks for getting in touch.

If  your husbands viral load is rising whilst on treatment, this would indicate that the treatment isn’t working. He’s going to need to talk to his consultant about changing to another combination. Please see here: https://i-base.info/guides/changing

Because your husband is in the UK, this is something that his consultant should have brought up with him. There will be other options available to him, so he’ll be OK.

    Hi Neeru,

Please see your doctor about your symptoms. If you think you’ve been exposed to HIV can ask for an HIV test too.

    Hi
I feel very cold in temperature of 23 also.I notice outside that people are relaxed in same temperature .if I ignore that cold then my temperature will rise to 37.2 with body ache .
Is this the sign of HIV progression .I have not gone for any test till now .
