WHO toolkit to strengthen engagement of health workers in emergency responses

Simon Collins, HIV i-Base

A 48-page WHO toolkit developed to emphasise the importance of community health workers in responding to emergency situations including mpox, COVID-19 and responses to conflict and displaced populations.

This implementation tool offers practice-based tips for national and local health authorities, UN agencies, civil society and other interested organisations on how to involve health workers in all stages of emergencies.

“Health and care workers like woven threads form the backbone of resilience. The trust they earn from communities enables them to reach underserved and vulnerable groups.During emergencies health workers have their ears open to community concerns provide life-saving support and advice and ensure no one is left behind.”
Hans Henri P . Kluge WHO Regional Director for Europe.
